AmpliTube - Djent Preset
Here's a "djent" preset I came up with for AmpliTube a few years ago and decided I'd share it.
You may need a few freeware resources for this tutorial, download them from the following links: TSE808:
LePou LeCab:
Impulse responses:
Camel Crusher (analog saturation & compression):
Let's take a look at getting it set up:
Make sure you at least double track your guitars and make sure they are played tightly and edited for precision & to remove parts where they aren't playing to obtain the best results!
1. Load TSE 808. Gain & volume knobs at noon and tone at max is a good starting position.
2. Load AmpliTube. Bypass the cabinet. The only module loaded is the 5150 amp simulator. Settings are as follows:
3. Load Poulin LeCab. Load the two impulse responses:
- Orange 2x12
-JJ Powertube Fredman 45 0
- Pan them centre, blend their volumes to taste
4. Here is the signal flow and post-EQ processing (Cubsae channel EQ)
- Highpass ~100Hz.
- Lowmid scoop around 400Hz.
- Midrange boost around 1,200Hz.
- Slight lowpass around 20,000Hz.
5. Route your guitar tracks to a stereo buss for final group processing:
- FabFilter Pro-Q to notch out fizzy/obnoxious frequencies.
- Decapitator *IMPORTANT: adds warm saturation, takes off the digital edge. A free alternative is Camel Crusher.
- Cubase Channel EQ, removing low end mud, adding brightness.
And that's it! Your recorded guitar tone should be sounding pretty huge. Since this is a high gain tone, you may notice a lot of noise when you switch to live monitoring. To fix this use AmpliTube's built in noise gate. Or add a noise gate plugin after the TSE808 in the signal chain! & if you're super lazy like me, why not download the AmpliTube preset or even the Cubase channel preset for Cubase users below!
